Often we may think we feel hungry but it can really be a misinterpretation of our body’s need for water.

Water is the basis of all life, and that includes your body.  The muscles that move your body are 75% water; your blood volume is 82% water; your lung tissue is 90% water; your brain that is the control centre of your body is 76% water and even your bones are 25% water.

Thirst means your cells are dehydrated, so for your body to function at its optimum – reach for water first!

When hunger strikes be sure that you are content with your water intake and aren’t feeding when you should be drinking. Drink a glass of water and wait 10 minutes, if the hunger goes away, well done, you have just avoided unnecessary eating! If you are still hungry, go for it, eat smart and enjoy!

Everyone knows it – drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. Your body will thank you.
